Donald Busarow (1934–2011) offers a new approach for the Advent text from Isaiah 40: 1–3, 5, 11. The setting for SATB choir, organ, and C instrument focuses around chant-like treatments of the Biblical text with rich choral writing. Quoting the tune FREU DICH SEHR, the piece ends with a portion of the Johann Olearius hymn text. The Isaiah text is read on Advent 2 (year B), Advent 3 (one-year), and the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, but is usefull anytime during Advent.
