Foundation Joy: Aurelia with Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring
An arrangement of the tune AURELIA for 3–5(6) octave handbells.
An arrangement by Jeffrey Honoré of the tune AURELIA for 3–5(6) octave handbells. Level III. This setting of “The Church’s One Foundation” exudes joy through its delightful use of 3/4 time and clever meshing with J. S. Bach’s well-known “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring”, where the hymn tune carries on in augmentation in the bass bells under Bach’s theme. Great for celebrations big and small of Christ’s presence among us. Useful throughout the Church Year and even for weddings as this tune is also used for “O Father, All Creating.”
