From Heaven Winging
Using the melody from a Hungarian carol and a new text loosely based on it, this setting for two-part mixed voices focuses on the heart of Christmas.
Using the melody from a Hungarian carol and a new text loosely based on it, this setting for two-part mixed voices focuses on the heart of the Christmas celebration: God’s love for our salvation. Everyone in the choir gets a chance to highlight the contagious melody. Because the range of the parts is neither too low nor too high, this setting works well for youth choirs or for parish choirs of any size.
From heaven winging,
Angels are singing.
Gloria! Gloria!
With joyful tiding,
Peace now abiding.
Gloria! Gloria!
For sinners given
The Son from heaven.
Gloria! Gloria!
Christ promised of old
Is born here, behold!
Gloria! Gloria!
God’s Son so lowly,
Infant so holy.
Gloria! Gloria!
Join we the chorus—
God’s love is for us.
Gloria! Gloria!
Hymn and thanksgiving
To God the living.
Gloria! Gloria!
With all creation,
For our salvation.
Gloria! Gloria!
