Curtis Giese
The Reverend Dr. Curtis P. Giese is a professor in the Theology Division of Concordia University Texas (in Austin), where he has taught Greek and New Testament since 2004. He was born and raised in Wausau, Wis. He received his education at Concordia University—St. Paul (B.A.); Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Mo. (M.Div., S.T.M); Lutherische Theologische Hochschule, Oberursel, Germany; and Hebrew Union College—Jewish Institute of Religion, Cincinnati, Ohio (M.Phil., Ph.D.), where his emphasis was Judaism in the Greco-Roman period. He served as assistant pastor of Grace Lutheran Church, Cincinnati, Ohio, and as pastor and mission developer of Amazing Grace Lutheran Church, Harrison, Ohio. He served as assistant and associate professor of religion at Concordia University Ann Arbor before being called to Concordia University Texas. Dr. Giese is the author of 2 Peter and Jude in the Concordia Commentary series (2012) and has served as the New Testament editor of the series since 2012. He is also a coauthor of Called to Be God’s People: An Introduction to the Old Testament (Eugene, Oreg.: Wipf & Stock, 2006). He has written study notes for The Lutheran Study Bible (St. Louis: Concordia, 2009), contributed articles to Concordia Pulpit Resources, and regularly presented conference papers. He has frequently written German devotions in Tägliche Andachten and Feste Burg Andachtsbuch. Dr. Giese and his wife, Nancy, have been married for thirty-two years. They are blessed with one son, Caleb.
