Jeffrey A. Gibbs
A teacher, pastor, and writer, Dr. Jeffrey Gibbs has served The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) since his ordination in 1979. Dr. Gibbs joined the faculty at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, in 1992, where he is a Professor of Exegetical Theology. His courses emphasize the Greek language, the Gospel of Matthew, and several other books of the New Testament. In addition to his teaching duties, Dr. Gibbs serves as part-time pastoral assistant at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in south St. Louis. He is also a regular speaker at conferences for pastors and laity. Dr. Gibbs has authored three books for Concordia Publishing House. He holds the following degrees: • BA, Rice University, Houston, Texas • MDiv., Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Indiana • STM, Concordia University, Fort Wayne, Indiana • PhD, Union Theological Seminary in Virginia, Richmond, Virginia Dr. Gibbs has been married to his high school sweetheart, Renee, since 1973. When he is not teaching or preaching, Dr. Gibbs and his wife enjoy traveling the country to visit their grandchildren and running after them. Dr. Gibbs has completed 10 marathons since 2002.
