Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis (Shaw)

A pair of settings by Timothy Shaw of the Magnificat (for SA choir and piano) and the Nunc Dimittis (for TB choir and piano). A short, solo recitative precedes each canticle: Isaiah 7:14 for tenor solo before the Magnificat and Luke 2:25 for soprano solo before the Nunc Dimittis.
The Magnificat text is from Luke 1:46–55 (ESV) and is appropriate in any evening service, during Advent and Christmas, and on the Feast of the Visitation. The Nunc Dimittis text is from Luke 2:29–32 (ESV) and is appropriate as the canticle after the Lord's Supper in the Divine Service, in any evening service, during Christmas, and on the Feast of the Purification of Mary and the Presentation of Our Lord.
