The piece is in three through-composed sections: first "One thing have I desired . . . to behold the beauty of the Lord," next, a rubato "For in the day of trouble He shall hide me, . . . keep me safe in His shelter and set me high upon a rock," and finally a 6/8 "So shall I offer in the Lord's dwelling songs of great gladness in praise to the Lord!" Psalm 27 is the appointed Psalm for Pentecost Tuesday, Proper 20A, Epiphany 3A, and Trinity 20.
