This report was prepared in response to an October 28, 2002 request that the Commission on Theology and Church Relations prepare a study on the explanation to the Eighth Commandment found in Luther's Larage Catechism, giving special attention to the notion of public rebuke being given to public sin.
This report on public rebuke of public sin is an attempt to read Luther's comment in its context both within the text of the Catechism and in light of historical events.
