Giovanni Gabrieli's Sonata Pian e Forte was originally written for two four-part instrumental choirs. It is one of the earliest pieces in which the indications pian and forte appear; in the original, each choir is marked pian when playing alone, and forte when both are playing together. This arrangement is for brass quartet and organ.
