Symbols of Salvation: Daily Devotions

Thirty-seven days of devotions guide you from December 1 through Epiphany (January 6). These devotions feature Old Testament prophecy, New Testament narratives, Jesus’ teachings, Epistle lessons, and our lives as Christians in an ever-changing world. All of scripture points to the reality of Jesus as our Savior, follow the Symbols of Salvation throughout the Old and New Testaments.

About the Series

Themes from the sermon series are reinforced by the daily devotions and refashioned for children in the Christmas service and illustrated book. During this Advent season, your entire congregation will see how the whole Bible points towards salvation found only in Jesus Christ.

About the Theme

Ordinarily, when we think of Old Testament prophecies of the birth of Christ, we have in mind specific verses. These direct prophecies point clearly to the coming of Jesus as the Savior Messiah. But in addition to these wonderful verses, Jesus teaches us that, in fact, the entire Old Testament prophesies about Him. All of the Bible is about Jesus. From the very beginning of creation, the ways God interacts with His people give us living symbols that foreshadow and foretell Jesus’ advent among us in the flesh.
