The Wittenberg Project: The Old Latin School
The LCMS and her sister church in Germany partner in the extraordinary endeavor of restoring the Old Latin School in Wittenberg.
Overview
At the eve of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, the world will turn its eyes, if only for a moment, to Wittenberg, Germany. Not because the town’s history goes back more than 800 years, or because it’s on the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites, or even because some very famous people once lived here. It’s because God acted here in a particularly important way some 500 years ago, and as a result, we are immensely blessed still today.
The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod and her sister church in Germany partner in the extraordinary endeavor of restoring the Old Latin School in Wittenberg, where the Lutheran faith was taught for over 250 years. The long and winding road from purchase to dedication of this building is about more than simply renovating the great historical site—The Wittenberg Project is about sharing the message of God’s grace with those who travel to Wittenberg from all over the world, and with those in the far reaches of the globe who do not know Christ.
This beautiful book is a story told through vibrant photographs, serving as a remembrance of the work completed for the first phases of this ongoing, mission-minded project.
