Violoncello
Luebeck's cantata "Welcome, Thou King of Glory" is a charming work of real substance and one of the most popular Christmas cantatas available. It is based on five stanzas of the hymn "Ermuntre dich, mein schwacher Geist" by Johann Rist (1607–1667). The ninth stanza of this hymn is the familiar "Break Forth, O Beauteous Heavenly Light" made famous by J. S. Bach in his Christmas Oratorio. Scored for two sopranos (or sopranos and altos), male voices ad libitum, two violins, and continuo. English and German text. Medium difficulty
