From My Perspective (CD)

Music for organ, voices, trumpet, and oboe.

From My Perspective is a sampling of compositions written by Dr. Charles W. Ore between 1971 and 1991. Concerning the music, Dr. Ore states, "While I am interested in all aspects of composition, it is primarily in the use of timbre (registration), texture (articulation), and rhythm that I have tried to develop a style of writing cantus firmus compositions indigenous to American culture yet reflective of historic traditions that have been used by composers of organ literature for hundreds of years."

Many of the compositions heard on this recording were originally designed for specific events. For example, the Fanfare introduction to "Liebster Jesu, wir sind hier" was written for the baptism of Elizabeth Bea Wake and its thematic material embodies a musical acrostic developed from her first two names.

Most of the compositions were conceived in an environment of improvisation, but they should not be necessarily be viewed as improvisations because each element has been carefully constructed and reconstructed in order to create a precise effect.

The organ used for this recording is the instrument that was used both to explore tonal concepts during the writing process and also to register the works for publication.
